WLA MEMBERSHIP

A group of lighthouse preservationists and educators has joined hands to keep alive the history and lore of the Evergreen State’s beautiful lighthouses and lightships.

Our mission is to save the remaining twenty-one lighthouses and two lightships in our state and foster an appreciation for the historic and social contributions of all our state’s sentinels. Please join our effort, click here for our brochure!

Money donated to WLA helps assist nonprofit groups with preserving and perpetuating the history and lore of lighthouses and lightships in the Evergreen State. Member lighthouse groups & museums become part of a large network within the state and national lighthouse community and receive PR and volunteer help.

WLA Members receive The Focal Point, a quarterly newsletter and membership card.

As our organization grows, membership will offer more perks. Your financial help is critical for the accomplishment of many important goals:

• Annual statewide lighthouse festival
• Annual “Directors Forum” for lighthouse groups in the region
• Lighthouse license plate and grant fund for lighthouse groups
• Reunion of lightkeepers and their descendents
• “Speakers Bureau” to present programs to interested civic groups
• Kit of materials for schools and youth groups
• Outreach programs to schools and universities
• Assistance with individual lighthouse projects
• Archives of materials on Washington lighthouses and lightships
• Website devoted solely to Washington lighthouses and lightships
• Corps of volunteers to assist lighthouse groups with work/events/activities

WLA became an official non-profit corporation in May 2005.
